Summer Fun – Feeling Expansive and Free!

I have taken a bit of a break recently, particularly from social media, to take some space and come back to me.

Practice what I ´preach´, so to speak.

I am experimenting being back on socials with something a bit different for me.

Focusing in on what brings me joy, into my senses, feeling expansive and free.

I have realised the word ´joy´ initially made me think of when I have to feel like I am jumping up and down for it or being ecstatic – which was restrictive and limiting me to experiencing it more! Joy can be so much more than that – a quiet smile, lightness, space, presence.

Social media hasn’t felt like that for some time for me. But having recently listened to @wisdomofanxiety ‘Gathering Gold’ podcast (check it out, esp if you are a fellow highly sensitive person) I felt inspired to tune into and *notice* the joy more in my life. To really sit in those moments and experience them, rather than go onto the next thing.

Not sure how often I will post, I am not setting up any rules or anything that will take me away from being in the moment and feeling lighter and unburdened this summer.

I love the school holidays for that alone, less rush, getting to and from stuff, rigidity and routine. A great holiday has helped with that and I am keen to continue that relaxed energy and freedom, before September looms!

If you’d like to post your moments of joy too, please feel free to do so. I will be using the tags #reclaimingjoy#joyinmidlife until I can think of something more witty! Please do share any ideas you might have too.

The photos above were moments of joy that I leant into – when I felt the warmth on my face and the breeze on my arms for my morning walk. And seeing a blazing tree bursting with colour and life whilst out and about. Isn’t nature amazing?

Thanks for being here ✨ as always I love to hear from you in the comments below.

Take good care,

Emma
